Hashtag Member Spotlight: Philippe Berard

Philippe has been a Hashtag member for two years and is definitely a well-known member of our community! There’s not a day that goes by that you won’t see Philippe at Hashtag working on his writing or telling stories. We love his imagination and can’t wait to catch up with him in the future!

Where are you from?

I can’t tell because I am a French spy… born in Paris sixty-four years ago. Or was it five hundred sixty-four years ago?

How did you find Hashtag?

Two years ago, a friend who saw me at Starbucks told me about Hashtag at the old location.

How has Hashtag contributed to your productivity/success?

Hashtag allowed me to start my writing career. I wrote two novel drafts, articles, including paid-for pieces while working at Hashtag.

What is the one thing you miss the most about Hashtag?

The ability to work on developing my writing career!

What would you want a prospective Hashtag Member to know?

Try Hashtag for a month and see if it’s a good fit for you!

In the past, what was your favorite Hashtag event?

Clearly Waffle Wednesday – definitely missing those mornings!

What things are you looking forward to when Hashtag re-opens?

Being able to record a podcast. Get back to my table at 7:00 am and work until 6:00 pm, when I go to the gym. I will have to triple the number of reps when we can go back to the gym!

What is something that surprised you about Hashtag when you became a member?

I was struck by the fact that such a working initiative could exist in Fresno, although the need for it was obvious.

If you could add one thing to Hashtag, what would it be?

A restaurant, a snack spot, or some place where one could get a bite any time of the 8-5 day would be cool.

What’s one of your favorite Hashtag memories?

Having met the Lady in Black who needs a ride to an nonexistent floor. (This is one of Philippe’s elaborate stories. I’m sure he’d love to tell you about it!)

What is something you’ve learned during shelter in place, why is it important?

Shelter in place has been a form of involuntary house arrest. I have learned to become adaptive and resourceful even in such circumstances.

Would you recommend Hashtag to others?

Definitely. I would recommend Hashtag because it is such a useful environment and it also energizes you!
