Fresno, Calif. Jan 27, 2022 – Today, Bitwise Industries (www.bitwiseindustries.com) announced the acquisition of Techtonic Inc., a Denver-based software developer, and American Council of Education (ACE)-Credentialed and Department of Labor (DOL)-Registered apprenticeship program. This acquisition demonstrates Bitwise Industries’ commitment to rapidly scaling and deepening relationships with partners, investors, government, and others interested in expanding high-quality apprenticeship opportunities for individuals and communities that have historically not had access.
“As we look at our momentum over the past few months, this acquisition is a perfect next step to scale our successful model for recruiting, training, and developing talent for the future of the tech industry,” said Jake Soberal, CEO and co-founder, Bitwise Industries. “Registered and accredited apprenticeship programs like those offered by Bitwise and Techtonic provide earn-while-you-learn training, addressing major income equality issues across the country and the growing demand for skilled technology workers.”
“Together, Techtonic and Bitwise Industries will have a larger impact on underserved communities, especially here in Colorado,” said Nicole Craine, CEO, Techtonic. “Both companies have a successful track record of providing relevant upskilling opportunities through accredited apprenticeship programs aligned to tech jobs for those who have been historically underrepresented. We are excited to join forces in support of our shared mission.”
Techtonic is located in Denver, Colorado and has trained hundreds of software engineers and created world-class business solutions for companies like: Vantage, Pivotal, Apostrophe, and Misty Robotics. The company’s mission has been supported by investors such as: University Ventures, Camden Partners, ZOMA Capital, and Yucatan Rock Ventures.
“As one of America’s first registered apprenticeships for software development, Techtonic has blazed the trail for new Hire-Train-Deploy programs that are closing the skills gap,” said Ryan Craig, Managing Director, Achieve Partners and author of A New U: Faster + Cheaper Alternatives to College. “We look forward to following Techtonic’s next chapter with Bitwise, another trailblazing program helping underrepresented populations launch successful tech careers.”
The acquisition is part of the aggressive growth strategy Bitwise Industries outlined following their 2021 funding announcement and their expansion beyond California with their Toledo, Ohio campus. Bitwise Industries has doubled in size and revenue since then, and has now trained over 5,000 individuals from underserved communities, 80% who have gone one to find technical employment. Their apprenticeship model has created an aggregate of over $285M in wages for mostly women, and people of color who would otherwise not have access to the high-growth, high-wage jobs of the tech industry.
“This acquisition furthers our commitment to supporting resilient communities through workforce development by increasing access to high-quality, affordable tech-career pathways,” said Ben Walton, Co-founder of ZOMA Capital. “We are excited for the next stage of growth and what this will mean for Colorado as well as other areas across the country that could benefit from this model.”

About Bitwise Industries
Bitwise Industries creates a bridge between humans from marginalized communities and stories of systemic poverty to skills and resources necessary to access opportunities in the tech industry. By upskilling disenfranchised humans, it empowers them to change their own lives—which ignites and transforms the regional economies of the cities in which Bitwise serves.
Bitwise has raised more than $100M in support of this important work; expanded its model to serve five cities (Fresno, Bakersfield, Merced, Oakland, and Toledo); and built a tech apprenticeship engine that will drive national jobs/economic recovery in 2022.
